Future Friday Blog

Friday 6th December 2019

Well done to all of our Year 11 pupils who have just completed their mock exams. You can relax a little now, and look forward to the Christmas holidays.

Please take note that the priority deadline for Hopwood Hall College is this Friday 6 December. As I have mentioned on a number of occasions, the popular courses fill up very quickly, and therefore applications submitted after this deadline cannot be guaranteed a place on their chosen course.

The Oldham Sixth Form College application deadline is also on Friday 6 December, if you have not already done so, you have only one more day to submit.

Application Lunch Time Drop In

On Wednesday 11 December, we are holding a second application drop in over the lunch time period. We will have representatives from The Manchester College and Oldham Sixth Form College as well as representatives from a number of apprenticeship providers in attendance. Unfortunately due to prior engagements Rochdale Sixth Form College, Hopwood Hall College and The Oldham College are unable to attend on this occasion.

In the meantime, please submit your college applications without delay. Deadlines are almost upon us. Applications submitted after the closing date will be treated as a late application and applicants will not be guaranteed a place in September.

In January and February representatives from both Oldham Sixth Form and Rochdale Sixth Form College will be in school to conduct interviews with our Year 11 pupils.

Rochdale Sixth Form interviews will be held in school on Thursday 9 January and Thursday 6 February. Oldham Sixth Form interviews to be held on Thursday 16 January. A list of those pupils to be interviewed on each of the dates will be sent to tutor groups in advance. Pupils will be provided with an appointment card via their tutor groups on the morning of their interview, to ensure that the card is not lost.

Apprenticeship Opportunities Rochdale, Oldham & Middleton

There are 150 apprenticeships and 42 traineeships vacancies at the moment in the Rochdale, Oldham and Middleton area. These range from Accounts, Administration, Barbering, Business and Administration, Childcare, Customer Service, Dental Nursing, Engineering, Hair and Beauty and many more.

If you are interested in an apprenticeship or traineeship after leaving Hollingworth in the summer, I would recommend that you take a look at what is on offer. Whilst you may not yet be eligible to apply, it is interesting to note what range of opportunities that there may be open to you.
